Born in Ujjain, Ayush Jajoo has been an ambitious student from his school days, with goals of achieving big in his career.
He did his Graduation in BBA from Vikram University, which is in Ujjain itself. While working full time, he cleared FRM Part I in 2021.
Let's deep dive into his background story and preparation strategy which helped him clear the FRM exam in first attempt. Given below are the excerpts from our interview with Ayush:
Why did you decide to pursue FRM?
After graduation, I pursued an MBA entrance exam but could not clear it due to personal reasons. I was looking for a finance-related certification that I could complete in a reasonable timeframe. I chose FRM over CFA because CFA requires three years and does not have the same job-specific focus. I was drawn to FRM's statistical components, and the timing worked well since risk management was booming in 2019.
What steps did you take to further your FRM preparation?
After my degree, I worked in business and as a research analyst at Sheer Capital in Ujjain. Recognising my need for structured guidance after being away from academics for a while, I initially attempted self-study but found it ineffective. I discovered QuintEdge through Google and received a foundational 30-minute consultation with faculty member Yash Jain. That was a pure reality-check and knowledge oriented session — no hard selling. That is when I knew this was the right place for me.
How did QuintEdge help you?
The organisation provided me with a customised study schedule and timeline that fit my situation. Yash Sir's video lectures incorporated real-life examples that made concept comprehension so much easier. When students had questions, he offered patient re-explanations until the concept fully clicked. That kind of support was exactly what I needed.
Can you share your preparation strategy for FRM Part I?
I followed a five-phase strategy:
- Phase 1: Read the foundational book first to get a curriculum overview. I completed this in 10–12 days.
- Phase 2: Studied book three (theory-focused) followed by book two. Both were finished within 25 days each.
- Phase 3: Covered book four while simultaneously revising earlier materials, over 22–25 days.
- Phase 4: Revised books two and four with practice questions across 25 days, then completed mock exams with targeted review of weak areas.
- Phase 5: Final revision focused on concept mastery. Two days before the exam, I completed Schweser questions for confidence-building.
This phased approach yielded first quartile performance across all four FRM subjects — meaning I scored in the top 25% globally in every section of the exam.
