Some career stories begin with certainty. Others begin with curiosity. Meet Harrsh Bajaj.
Growing up in Mumbai, he absorbed the city's pace, ambition, and the constant push to do well. But like many finance aspirants, he often felt the quiet confusion of knowing he wanted a strong career, yet not knowing the exact direction to take.
How do you actually get a job in finance when you've studied the theory, but companies expect real, practical skills?
This realization led him to seek a specialized program at QuintEdge which provided him with the necessary practical skills and placement support, due to which he finally got a job as an Analyst at Dun & Bradstreet India.
His journey isn't about rushing. It's about thoughtful decisions, steady growth, and using the right support at the right time. Let's explore his journey -- in his own words.
How did you develop an interest in Investment Banking?
My interest grew gradually rather than appearing all at once. I was drawn to understanding corporate decision-making, profitability analysis, and what financial statements really reveal about a business. I also developed a passion for sustainability and climate finance, but I realised that these fields require strong financial fundamentals. My interest in investment banking emerged from wanting to build that solid foundation — one that would support whatever direction I chose to go in.
What steps did you take to get into this field?
I pursued a Master's degree in Carbon Finance at the University of Edinburgh, which gave me excellent technical and real-world context. However, I recognised that I needed stronger practical financial skills. So I enrolled in the QuintEdge Financial Modeling & Valuation Programme to learn proper model-building and company analysis techniques. I view both paths as complementary — my specialised degree provided global understanding while the modeling training delivered the practical workplace skills I was missing.
How did QuintEdge help you in getting placed?
Beyond teaching financial modeling, QuintEdge helped me develop analyst-level thinking. The instruction felt genuinely practical rather than theoretical. During the placement support process, the team took the time to understand my background and interests rather than just pushing random opportunities. The CV guidance, interview preparation, and mock discussions reduced the overwhelm significantly. I ultimately secured an Analyst position at Dun & Bradstreet India, where the role aligned with both my sustainability interests and my financial modeling expertise.
Can you share your preparation strategy with us?
I prioritised consistency over volume throughout my preparation. I started by strengthening my financial fundamentals and rebuilding my comfort with core concepts. I practiced modeling regularly from scratch, focusing on clarity rather than speed. I developed a habit of always thinking about cash flow implications when analysing companies. I also refined my CV to tell one coherent professional narrative. QuintEdge's assignments, exercises, and mock interviews provided the structured feedback I needed to sharpen my thinking.
