The short version
Quick answer: Many students can start ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) directly after Class 12, if their marks fit ACCA’s entry rules. If not, FIA (Foundations in Accountancy) is the usual first step. Graduates and CA or CMA students often start higher. ACCA exempts them from some of its 13 exams.

How ACCA entry works
Who can start ACCA directly, and who starts with FIA?
ACCA looks at your highest qualification. After Class 12, direct entry usually depends on English, Maths or Accounts, and minimum subject marks. This checker asks four questions:
- English included
- Maths or Accounts included
- 65%+ in two relevant subjects
- 50%+ in remaining subjects
If one does not fit, it suggests FIA first. FIA is ACCA’s foundation-level route. It builds the basics before the main exams, like a bridge course. Students before Class 12 also start there.

How many ACCA exams can your qualification skip?
Only exams in the first two levels. ACCA has 13 exams in three levels. Exemptions cover the first nine at most. Nobody is exempt from Strategic Professional.
- Applied Knowledge: BT (Business and Technology), MA (Management Accounting), FA (Financial Accounting).
- Applied Skills: LW (Corporate and Business Law), PM (Performance Management), TX (Taxation), FR (Financial Reporting), AA (Audit and Assurance), FM (Financial Management).
- Strategic Professional: SBL (Strategic Business Leader), SBR (Strategic Business Reporting) and two Options exams.

How long does ACCA take once you start?
Most candidates finish in 2 to 4 years. It depends on how many exams you sit and your weekly study hours. Fewer exams, or more hours, means a shorter path.

Can I start ACCA after Class 12?
