Quick answer: a CFA® (Chartered Financial Analyst) Level 1 mock test is a timed practice exam in the real format. The real exam has 180 multiple-choice questions in two sessions of 135 minutes. Each question has three answer options, and wrong answers cost nothing. That works out to about 90 seconds a question.
This free mock gives you 30 questions in 45 minutes, or 90 questions in 135 minutes (one full session at the real pace). When you finish, you see your score, a bar for each topic beside CFA Institute's official weight, your three weakest topics and every answer explained.
The Level 1 exam is 180 multiple-choice questions, split into two sessions of 90. You get 135 minutes for each session. Every question has three options, labelled A, B and C. There is no negative marking, so a blank answer and a wrong answer both score zero. A smart guess can only help. The table compares the real exam with both mock modes.
| Real Level 1 exam | Quick mock | Full-session mock | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Questions | 180 (two sessions of 90) | 30 | 90 |
| Time | 135 minutes per session | 45 minutes | 135 minutes |
| Answer options | 3 (A, B, C) | 3 | 3 |
| Wrong answers | No negative marking | No negative marking | No negative marking |
| Pace | About 90 seconds a question | 90 seconds a question | 90 seconds a question |
| Topic mix | Official weight ranges | Official weights for your window | All 90 bank questions, close to the 2026 weights |
Plain takeaway: the full-session mock matches one real session's length and pace, so it is the closest rehearsal for exam day.
Multiple-choice means you pick one answer from the options given. The real exam splits topics by session. Session 1 has Ethics, Quantitative Methods, Economics, Financial Statement Analysis and Corporate Issuers (renamed Corporate Finance from 2027). Session 2 has the other five topics. Our full-session mock mixes all ten topics, so you practise switching between them.
CFA Institute gives each topic a weight range: the share of exam questions it can take. For 2026 exams, Ethics is the biggest topic at 15–20%. From February 2027, the new curriculum cuts Ethics to 10–15% and raises Quantitative Methods to 11–14%. Four topics are also renamed. Pick your exam window above, and the mock uses the matching table.
| Topic (2027 name) | 2026 weight | 2027 weight | Quick mock 2026 / 2027 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ethical and Professional Standards | 15–20% | 10–15% | 5 / 3–4 |
| Quantitative Methods | 6–9% | 11–14% | 2 / 3–4 |
| Economics | 6–9% | 6–9% | 2 / 2 |
| Financial Statement Analysis | 11–14% | 11–14% | 4 / 3–4 |
| Corporate Finance (was Corporate Issuers) | 6–9% | 6–9% | 2 / 2 |
| Equities (was Equity Investments) | 11–14% | 11–14% | 4 / 3–4 |
| Fixed Income | 11–14% | 11–14% | 4 / 3–4 |
| Derivatives and Risk Management (was Derivatives) | 5–8% | 6–9% | 2 / 2 |
| Alternative Investments | 7–10% | 6–9% | 2 / 2 |
| Portfolio Construction (was Portfolio Management) | 8–12% | 8–12% | 3 / 3 |
Plain takeaway: from February 2027, Quantitative Methods gains about 9 of 180 questions, about two-thirds more than before. Ethics loses about 9 (illustrative, at the middle of each range). Rebalance your study hours if you sit in 2027.
The quick mock splits its 30 questions in proportion to the middle of each range. For example, the 2026 Ethics range of 15–20% has a middle of 17.5%, which works out to 5 of 30 questions. In 2027, five topics share the same middle of 12.5%. Four of them get 4 questions and one gets 3, picked at random each attempt, so they even out over several mocks. The November 2026 window is the last one on the 2026 curriculum.
There is no official answer. CFA Institute does not publish a pass mark. Its Board of Governors sets the minimum passing score (MPS), the score you need to pass. Your result shows pass or fail, a scale score and how you did in each topic. So a mock percentage is a progress check, not a pass prediction. Watch your trend across several mocks instead.
Topic scores matter more than one total. Think of it like plugging leaks in a water tank: you fix the biggest hole first, not the first one you notice. That is why the result ranks your weakest topics by exam weight, not just by percentage.
Illustrative: on a 2026 exam, Ethics is about 32 of 180 questions (the middle of 15–20%). Lifting it from 40% to 70% adds roughly 9 or 10 correct answers. The same jump in Derivatives (5–8%, about 12 questions) adds only 3 or 4.
Each quick test picks a fresh set of questions in proportion to the topic weights for your exam window. The full session uses all 90. Every attempt then shuffles the question order and the answer options. When you finish, or when the timer hits zero, it marks every answer. It shows your score, your time against the 90-second pace and your accuracy in each topic.
Every question is original and written for QuintEdge in the Level 1 style. None is copied from CFA Institute or any prep provider. Many use small rupee examples, so the numbers feel familiar.
Start full-length mocks in the last six to eight weeks, once you have covered the whole curriculum. Before that, use short quick tests to find weak topics early. Take each full mock in one sitting, on the clock, with no notes. Then spend about as long reviewing your answers as you spent taking the test. The review is where the marks come from.
Registered candidates also get CFA Institute's official practice questions and mock exams. Use those in the final weeks too. Our CFA Level 1 study plan shows where mocks fit week by week, and the free study planner builds a schedule around your exam date.
Practice is cheaper than a retake. Each Level 1 attempt costs USD 1,140 if you register early or USD 1,490 at the standard price (CFA Institute, checked October 2026). That is about ₹1,10,141 to ₹1,43,956 before GST (India's goods and services tax). The rupee figures are illustrative. They use the FBIL (Financial Benchmarks India) reference rate of ₹96.6149 per US dollar on 9 Oct 2026. FBIL publishes India's official reference exchange rates. The CFA fee calculator adds GST and card charges.

No. Every question is original and written for QuintEdge in the Level 1 style. CFA Institute does not share its exam questions. Registered candidates get CFA Institute's official practice questions and mock exams, so use those alongside this mock.
CFA Institute does not publish a fixed pass mark. Its Board of Governors sets the minimum passing score for each level. So a mock score is a progress check, not a pass prediction. Focus on raising your weakest high-weight topics.
The ones for your exam window. November 2026 uses CFA Institute's 2026 Level I weights. February 2027 onward uses the 2027 weights, where Ethics drops to 10–15% and Quantitative Methods rises to 11–14%. The quick test picks its questions on those weights. The full session uses all 90 questions and compares your topic scores with them.
No. Your answers, flags and timer are saved in this browser tab. The timer keeps running while you are away, and the test submits itself when it reaches zero. Closing the tab ends the attempt.
Yes, as often as you like. Each quick test picks a fresh mix of questions, and every attempt shuffles the question order and the answer options. The full session uses all 90 questions in a new order each time.
This mock test is for practice only. Its questions are original QuintEdge material, not CFA Institute questions, and a practice score does not predict your exam result.
